professional microsoft robotics studio

December 11th 2008 in Automotive

Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio (MRDS) offers an exciting new wayto program robots in the Windows environment. With key portions of theMRDS code available in source form, it is readily extensible and offersnumerous opportunities for programmers and hobbyists. This comprehensivebook illustrates creative ways to use the tools and libraries in MRDS so you can start building innovative new robotics applications.

The book begins with a brief overview of MRDS and then launches into MRDSconcepts and takes a look at fundamental code patterns that can be used in MRDS programming. You'll work through examples—all in C#—of common tasks, including an examination of the physics features of the MRDS simulator. As the chapters progress, so does the level of difficulty and you'll gradually evolve from navigating a simple robot around a simulated course to controlling simulated and actual robotic arms, and finally, to an autonomous robot that runs with an embedded PC or PDA.

GM (General Motors) Sport Compact Performance Build Book

November 19th 2008 in Automotive

Taken from Introduction: This handbook describes parts and procedures used to prepare ECOTEC Race Engines used by GM Racing in professional sport compact drag racing, as well as engine, transmission, and chassis modifications designed for, sportsman-level drag racers and road racers.

This handbook is intended to be used by experienced and knowledgeable race engine and chassis builders. It does not cover basic engine blueprinting and assembly procedures, since it is assumed that the reader is already familiar with machining, measuring, and inspecting the components. Some of the procedures described require specialized tools and skills. If you do not have the appropriate training and equipment to perform these modifications safely, this work should be performed by other professionals.

There are of course, many other possible combinations of components and additional modifications that may produce equal or superior results. However, by using the combination of parts and procedures described in this handbook, an experienced engine builder can build a competitive and reliable ECOTEC Race Engine.

It is not the intent of these specifications to replace the comprehensive and detailed service practices explained in the GM service manuals

Peugeot Engines Technical Informations

November 19th 2008 in Automotive

Technical informations of various Peugeot engines, diesel and petrol engines, covers various informations from materials used by engines, configurations and layouts, injection types, engine performance and environmental performance.

Contents:

  • HDi (diesel) EnginesThe three HDi engines available, a 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engines and a 2.7-litre V6 twinturbo engine, are fitted with the latest generation of common rail high pressure injection system.
  • 1.6-litre HDi Diesel Engine (DV6 TED4 鈥?FAP)This four-cylinder fully aluminium engine is a development of the DV4 (1.4-litre) in which the displacement (1.6-litre ) is obtained by a simultaneous increase in the stroke ( 6.3 mm) and bore ( 1.3 mm). It has a sixteen valve head with dual overhead camshafts, roller cam followers and hydraulic tappets. Supercharging is provided by a variable geometry turbo, and the engine is equipped with a second generation Bosch common rail injection system giving a substantial reduction in fuel consumption and hence emissions.
  • 2.0-litre HDi Diesel Engine (DW10 BTED4 鈥?FAP)With a capacity of 1,997 cm3 (bore 85 mm, stroke 88 mm), this engine features a Garrett variable geometry turbocharger with a vacuum-controlled discharge valve equipped with a front-mounted air/air exchanger. It develops a maximum power of 100 kW at 4,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 320 Nm at 2,000 rpm. The torque can attain 340 Nm at 2,000 rpm thanks to the “overboost” function, which comes into play with the engine under full load between 1,750 and 3,200 rpm. This temporary increase in torque is available in all six gears with the manual 6-speed gearbox, and in the final three gears with the automatic 4-speed box.
  • 2.7 litre V6 HDi Diesel (DT17 TED4 鈥?FAP)This new 60deg V6 engine with a capacity of 2721 cm3 develops a power of 150 kW and a torque of 440 Nm. Its advanced design enables it to satisfy the Euro IV standard and its new maintenance-free FAP particle filter reduces particle emissions to a barely measurable level.
